The Policing Alternatives & Diversion Initiative (PAD) has recently expanded to accept community referrals through the City of Atlanta 311 non-emergency city services line for quality of life concerns related to unmet mental health needs, substance use, or extreme poverty. Typically, community members have been advised to call 911 for these type of concerns, but this new resource offers an alternative approach. When a community member makes a referral to 311, a PAD response team travels to the area to offer immediate assistance to the referred individual. These services are currently available in Atlanta Police Department Zones 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and will be citywide by this summer.
The success of this new resource depends on strong connections with community members. PAD wants to get to know the unique character of each neighborhood and partner with Atlanta residents to build a new approach to community safety and wellness. Your input will help shape their services and future engagement with our community. The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous –PADNeighborhoodSurvey.
